Did you know that most large-scale home renovations involve the kitchen? That’s because your kitchen is where you and your family spend so much of your time—and where the largest and most expensive appliances live. And it seems that renovations are always necessary, since kitchen appliances are becoming more and more sophisticated: they do more, and do more with style.
So what’s in your kitchen’s future? Let’s take a look at what’s just around the corner in kitchen appliances. These machines are doing what in the past only science-fiction writers could imagine… until now. Perhaps when it’s time for your next kitchen remodel, you’ll want to include one or more of these appliances!
The first new exciting appliance is an induction cooktop. Instead of heating the cooktop, this appliance heats the pots and pans that are on it. In fact, you can remove a pan from this cooktop—and then put your hand immediately down on the cooktop without getting burned! Induction cooking uses electromagnetic fields to heat … and uses far less power than conventional methods.
Let’s keep the cooking theme going and look at microwave drawers. As the name implies, these microwaves live under the counter, so instead of opening a door to put food in the microwave, you touch a switch and the drawer slides out. Now microwaves can look good and take up less space, too!
Want more convenience? Then what you’ll want is a lift oven, because it’s another door that you won’t have to open: place what you want to cook on a tray that lowers out of the oven. You’ll push a button and the tray raises back up into the oven.
It sounds like something out of The Jetsons, but refrigerators with built-in computers are here now. A real computer touchscreen on the fridge connects you to your recipes, your email, and anything else you need while working in the kitchen.
